It started with a lawsuit between the governor of Ek Phnom District, Mr. Mel Sophal, and Mr. Sem Bora, the CEO of TNM News Network. When Mr. Sem Bora won, he also filed a lawsuit with the Battambang Provincial Court to sue Mr. Mel Sophal. However, the lawsuit was dismissed by Deputy Prosecutor Chao Kopheng of the Battambang Provincial Court.
Now it is no longer a problem between the governor of Ek Phnom District and the CEO of TNM. Instead, it has become a heated issue between Deputy Prosecutor Chao Kopheng and Mr. Sem Bora. That is, on February 23, 2026, Mr. Sem Bora filed a petition for intervention from His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Keut Rith, Minister of Justice. Mr. Sem Bora stated that he was suing Deputy Prosecutor Chau Kopheng for irregularities in Criminal Case No. 911, dated June 11, 2025, of the Battambang Provincial Court of Appeals and requested the Ministry of Justice to intervene with the Battambang Court of Appeals to review the irregularities in the order to dismiss the case.
On March 6, 2026, Mr. Sem Bora filed another petition to the President of the Disciplinary Council of the Council of the Magistrates, suing Deputy Prosecutor Chau Kopheng for irregularities in Criminal Case No. 911, dated June 11, 2025, of the Battambang Provincial Court of Appeals and requested the Ministry of Justice to intervene with the Battambang Court of Appeals to review the irregularities in the order to dismiss the case.
Mr. Sem Bora stated that I would like to inform the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Council that I filed a complaint dated March 19, 2025 against Mel Sophal for “defamation and defamation” that occurred in Battambang province on October 28, 2022. Later, I received a letter of notification regarding the dismissal of the case No. 628, dated December 25, 2025, from Mr. Chao Kopheng, Deputy Prosecutor of the Battambang Provincial Court in Criminal Case No. 911, dated June 11, 2025.
